Regional Legislation

imagen ilustrativa, marca de IDEAA decree establishing the rules for the mapping activity in the Autonomous Region of Andalusia (Decree 141/2006) was published on August 8, 2006 in the BOJA (the Andalusian Regional Government’s Official Gazette) nº 154, containing a specific chapter defining objective, content, scope, etc. for Spatial Data Infrastructure.

Resolution of the 18th of January 2008 which establishes the Range of Services to be provided by the General Directorate of the Andalusian Institute of Cartography (BOJA of February 6, 2008). The objective of the resolution is to improve the services offered to individual users by the said General Directorate, which is the co-ordinator of Andalusia’s Spatial Data Infrastructure. With this aim in mind, the resolution also defines a series of parameters to assess the quality of the infrastructure itself.

On October 29, 2008 the Cartographic Plan of Andalusia publishes in the BOJA n º 215. It is the instrument to plan of coordinated form the production, use and diffusion of the geographical information necessary for the management of the Andalusian territory, with the purpose of guaranteeing the coherence and interoperability of the spatial information, favoring the efficiency in the public expenditure and assuring the quality of the production and his(her,your) usefulness(utility) as public service.


National Legislation

imagen ilustrativa, marca de IDEERoyal Decree 1545/2007 of November 23, 2007 by which the National Cartographic System is governed. This Royal Decree, in application of legal statute 7/1986 of the 24th of January, for the Regulation of Cartography Maps, establishes provisions for the collection, storage, treatment, and dissemination by public authorities of geographic information concerning the national territory and territorial sea, the adjacent area, the continental platform, and the exclusive economic zone through the National Cartographic System.

The objective of the 37/2007 Law of November 16, 2007 concerning the re-utilisation of Information about the Public Sector is to establish the basic provisions of the legal regime applicable to the re-utilization of documents generated by or under custody of public administrations and bodies.

Royal Decree 1071/2007 of July 27, which regulates the Spanish official geodesic system. This Royal Decree establishes the baseline geodesic system which is to be used as a reference in generating official Spanish geographic information and cartography, permitting full integration both with the geographic information and cartography of other European countries and navigation systems.

Law 27/2006, of July 18, which establishes the rights of access to information, public participation, and access to the judiciary for environment related issues (incorporates directives 2003/4/EC and 2003/35/EC).

Royal Decree 1792/1999, of November 26, 1999 which regulates the Higher Geographic Council, a consultative and planning body responsible for cartography. It has a collegiate nature and is part of the Ministry of Development.

Law 7/1986 of January 24, 1986, which regulates the production of official national cartographic material. Its articles establish the criteria and responsibilities of the State in terms of cartographic production.


European Legislation

imagen ilustrativa, marca de InspirE Inspire is a European Initiative which regulates Spatial Data Infrastructures within the European Union. The directive was finally approved on the 21st of November 2006 and its definitive text was published in all the official languages of the member states in the Official Journal in April de 2007.
