Municipal Boundary Lines
The Territorial Delimitations drawn up by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography and the General Directorate of Local Administration of the Ministry of the Presidency, Local Administration and Democratic Memory
they make the most recent information on municipal boundary lines available to the public.
For the first time, access is made possible through a single web page, both to the legal and technical information of each boundary line and to its geometry.

One of the objectives of the Andalusian Territorial Delimitations project is to gather in a single geographic database all the existing information,
both documentary and geometric, on each of the municipal boundary lines of the Andalusian territory.
Regarding alphanumeric and documentary information, it has been obtained mainly from the Historical Archive of the National Geographic Institute.
It must be borne in mind that this competence fell to the Ministry of Public Administrations, with the National Geographic Institute being responsible for the issues
topographic and the custody of historical documents. Once said competence was transferred to the Junta de Andalucía, it was necessary to collect this historical information.
Therefore, the demarcation records prepared by the surveyors' brigades of the Geographical Institute, the corresponding field notebooks and the planimetries and altimetries
Municipalities come from the digitization of existing documents in the IGN archives. In a small number of cases and since there was no documentation in this file,
the municipal and provincial archives have been used. The priority has been to have the legal document that determines the status of the limit line, either definitive or
provisional. Likewise, in the most recent documents, the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía has been used, from which the documents of administrative acts have been extracted.
Methodology:
In the case of a demarcation procedure, the phases are determined in the administrative procedure itself. From a topographic point of view, it is about rethinking the agreement
to which the Demarcation Commission arrives. This stake out must be done with the appropriate precisions. Although it is a demarcation, it may be necessary to rethink previous documents
that can serve as background.
In the case of the stake out procedure, four phases can be differentiated:
- Compilation and analysis of the available information.
- Previous work in the cabinet.
- Topographic work on the ground.
- Closing of the line in the cabinet.
